Seiko Marine Master Pro Tuna – SBBN031

The awesome Seiko SBBN031 is a tool watch at its core and is the latest timepiece to join Seiko’s quartz-powered Tuna range.

The design is graphic, bold and immediately legible. It’s a fairly large watch but still feels wearable for most wrist sizes. The case is 48mm wide and approx 14.7mm thick.

Unless you are a stick-man, the SBBN031 won’t look like a dinner plate on your arm but you could never say it’s a subtle watch. With all this being said, in terms of its proportions, it’s bang-on-the-money.

One of the major features of the SBBN031 is the shroud. Its purpose is to protect the case and bezel when the user is scuba-diving, only showing the bezel on the top right and bottom left areas. The watch is water resistant to a depth of 300 meters.

The uni-directional bezel is very slick with a premium-feel smooth ratcheting system. It also has oversized teeth for an easy grip when wearers are engaged in sports or diving.

This highly desired professional dive watch features a 7-jewel, Seiko 7C46 movement (accurate to within 15 seconds per month) and an impressive battery life of around 5 years.

The SBBN031 is a brilliant watch in low light conditions. It has highly luminous hands & markers that have been treated with Lumibrite for excellent visibility (even the worst environments).

All in all, the SBBN031 is a beautiful addition to the Tuna range. We particularly love the dial which is perfectly simple and very legible and effective (which is what you would expect from a top of the range tool watch. It’s comfortable to wear, feels solid as a rock and comes with a 2-year guarantee.

Tissot T Complication Squelette

This beautiful watch looks great from every angle. The Tissot T Complication Squelette just oozes attention to detail and as it’s mesmerizing to watch every piece of the internal workings move, turn, and engage!

The watch has a rugged steel grey case and the hands and hour markers change color depending on how the light hits it. If the light is straight-on they appear a dark navy color, and from an angle, a vibrant blue color shows. You can also see the light shimmering across the face of the watch making it one of the most beautiful watches we have ever seen.

Not only does this watch look amazing, but you can also see the diligence that went into its production. Every surface of the timepiece has been touched and finished and fine grooves adorn every flat surface. Even under macro zoom, it is impossible to find any imperfections. Usually to get this kind of workmanship would mean spending well over two thousand dollars!

The dial is more like a work of art! Every beat of the movement changes the dial, as the tiny gears and pulleys move. As far as skeleton watches go, this is by far our favorite. The Squelette has a black crocodile-grain leather strap which is soft and comfortable that you will forget you’re even wearing a watch.

The movement of the Tissot T has been in development since 1950, and that is evident when you see this watch close up. It is fitted with 17 jewels and beats at 18,000 a/h. All in all, the coolest skeleton watch we’ve ever seen!!!

Laco Paderborn Erbstuck

The stunningly simple Laco Paderborn Erbstuck is a throwback to the original “B-Uhr” timepieces issued to German Air Force personnel in the 30s and 40s.

It was around this time that the German Air Ministry set a standard for pilots’ watches, and only authorized a couple of watch companies to manufacture timepieces for use by the German military.

The term “B-Uhr” is short for “Beobachtungsuhr“, which actually translates into “observation watches” and Laco was one of the five companies chosen by the German military. All of the watches measured 55mm in diameter and were designed to be worn over the sleeve of a flying suit.

The “B-Uhr” watches were mainly used for navigation due to their extremely accurate chronometers and now you can pick up one of these stunning replica “B-Uhr” timepieces.

The Paderborn Erbstuck has a black dial with minute-track around its face. The minutes are featured more prominently than the hours, which was mainly due to the short sorties of the pilots that wore them. The hour track is located in the middle of the watch face and the hands are luminescent (in homage to the Luftwaffe issue watches of yesteryear.)

The Laco Paderborn Erbstuck is a bit smaller than its predecessor, measuring 42mm in diameter. The case has a perfect height of 13mm which sits neatly on your wrist. It is very difficult to find an original example of a B-Uhr watches and even if you do, prices at auction are sky-high.

The Laco Paderborn Erbstuck encapsulates the feel of the original watch but comes with total accessibility. Laco has done a great job with recreating a vintage feel. This includes the dial design, over-sized crown, and text on the case which all go to give an antique feel to the watch.

This gorgeous timepiece is very practical with its highly legible dial, modestly sized case and top of the line comfort, and a self-winding mechanism. To sum up, the Laco Paderborn Erbstuck is a real bargain, delivering top-quality workmanship with a healthy dose of nostalgia.

Baume & Mercier BMMOA10061 Capeland

Earlier this year, Swiss watchmaker Baume & Mercier released several new Capeland Chronographs with 42 mm bodies. The biggest change is that all of the new models are equipped with see-through sapphire glass casebacks, which is great if you want a watch where you can see all of the automatic movements at work.

Baume & Mercier currently offer five versions of the Capelend Chronograph 42 mm. Each one is housed in a high-quality polished & satin-finished 14.9 mm stainless steel case. Three of the new models have a black or a brown alligator leather strap, with the remaining two models are equipped with gorgeous stainless steel bracelets.

The Baume & Mercier BMMOA10061 is a mid-sized timepiece which is water resistant to 50 meters (as are all of the of the watches from the Capeland Collection). One of our favorite features on this premium timepiece is the sapphire crystal case back which shows the Valjoux 7753 automatic movement in all of its glory with a 27 jewel movement, decorated in the style of Côtes de Genève.

The watch is self-winding and has all of the usual watch functions including hours/minutes/seconds, date, chronograph, tachymeter and telemeter functions. The excellent mechanism keeps enough power to run the watch for 48 hours.
